Brother's Keeper Woes

I was my brother's keeper, until I lost my trust for him.

I was my sister's keeper, until she went back to her abusive husband.

I was my neighbor's keeper, until he was arrested for dealing dope out of his garage.

I was my mother's keeper, until she married husband number five.

I was my cousin's keeper, until he embezzled half a million from his business.

I was my friend's keeper, until she was found in some hotel with underage high school boys.

I was my brother's keeper, until he registered six dead relatives to vote and was caught.

I was my dad's keeper, until he came to me for his third $10,000 loan in three years....all lost gambling.

I was my cousin's keeper, until he bankrupted his family by buying a $400k house with only $30k down payment.

I was my sister's keeper, until she tried to commit suicide for the fifth time unsuccessfully.

I was my son's keeper, until he refused to look for work for three years after graduating from high school.

I was my daughter's keeper, until the college called and said they were expelling her for failed grades and three DWI arrests in two weeks.

I was my brother's keeper, until he tossed rock salt all over his ex-wife's yard as a joke.

I was my sister's keeper, until she took my $500 loan for the month's rent payment, and spent it on drugs.

I was everyone's keeper, until my patience ran out.....and then.....I became my own keeper. Now, I live like there is no tomorrow, and I let the others drift as they wanted.
