The Rick at the Inaugural?

Rick Warren of the Saddleback Church "Enterprise" has been picked by President-elect Obama to lead the inaugural invocation.

Frankly, I was a bit surprised. I'm not much of a Rick Warren supporter and find the ministry to be mostly a mega-church operation, with a base thats mostly jello. Rick is anti-gay although he sees civil unions as an answer. Rick is mostly a religious-player....at least in my eyes.

As for his participation in this inauguration? Well....he gathers more steam and more ability to turn crowds in the future. He is smarter than the other dimwits who have spent millions on trips and foundations that support themselves or their families. Rick apparently has not made himself into a slut....yet.

The interviews with Warren? Well....once you start to slice into what he said and how he said it....he starts to look like George Bush....with no fundamental knowledge base. His topics are Bible-answer type situations that get a verse somewhere in the middle. Should you ask any questions on global warming or Russia? No.....and if you are totally honest....you won't ask about transmission jobs or the screw-ups at the SEC.

Would I measure Rick up to Billy Graham? No. Simply....no. Rick is half a Billy Graham at best. Billy Graham wasn't political....he was out to preach to a man's soul.....and tend to their inner needs. Rick might attempt some kind of inner needs work....but it comes up short.

So I'm not really buying into this effort by Obama to involve Rick in the day-long fest. Just another negative tossed onto the plate.

The Blago Agenda

Late yesterday, the Illinois supreme court rejected a bid to remove Blagojevich as governor of Illinois. This kinda reshuffled the deck and has several interesting implications.

First, Blago isn't going. He won't quit.

Second, the impeachment guys may meet up with a court order to cease from the state supreme court...because no conviction has occurred. No one is entirely sure that a impeachment effort can proceed without that conviction.

Third, Blago stood up today and smiled as he said that he won't select a senator unless this is sorted out and he is cleared.

Fourth, the only clear way out of this mess is to change the Illinois constitution....but some folks are a bit fearful of the final outcome of this.

Fifth, the Republicans now have TV and radio ad's going around the state....asking for a vote....which is bothering the democrats greatly. They wanted to get the Lt Governor into office and just pick again...assuming that he hasn't discussed nothing with nobody.

So this is my analysis. Illinois....prepare yourself...for a long damn wait. I don't think a replacement will be made until August of 2009 at best. It might even be the end of 2009 before they can come to a conclusion.

President-elect Obama....should avoid any discussions on this topic and don't request anyone for the position. The minute you dig yourself into this trap....you will find ten more questions from the press which you can't answer.

And for the five guys who were the nominees...some advice. If you thought you are off the hook and won't be mentioned anymore....think again. You are the Obama-Five...no matter what happens now. I doubt seriously that any of you can get appointed to the position or even run for the position.
