Its hard to predict a new year. I'd like to say the economy will get better...but I really don't think we've hit rock bottom yet.
I'd like to say that Hollywood will turn out some really outstanding movies......but I really doubt that they even know how.
I'd like to say that the end of the George Bush era will be wonderful and Obama will cure all things...but I really doubt that we really will see much of a change.
I'd like to say that Ford, GM and Chrysler will survive on......but I doubt that the economy will work in their favor, and at least one will dissolve or disappear.
I'd like to say Brittney Spears and Amy Winehouse will move on and fix all of their problems.....but I would have doubts over either getting permanently better.
I'd like to say global warming will get much, much, much worse (to make the global warming folks real happy), but sadly, I don't think we will get much warmer....and will see more of a chilling trend instead (don't worry.....climate change will fit in this case and we can suffer that way).
I'd like to say that gas will get cheaper......but I have doubts that the Arabs will be happy about $40 a barrel oil, so expect $75 a barrel by the end of 2009.
I'd like to say that Katie Couric will find life at 60 Minutes after being dumped at CBS Nightly News.....but I think most folks just don't appreciate her talents....and frankly, don't want to see her period.
I'd like to think that Pop Tarts will come out in several new flavors....but honestly, I think we've just about broken every possible Pop Tart option left. Unless, they were thinking of a bar-b-q type, but I doubt that would sell.
Finally, I'd like to think we'd all find something in life to really toss us for a loop, twist our lives upside down, and make the woes go away......but in reality, if I'm still living next year and got a job.....I'll be happy enough.
So bid adios to 2008.....the "McCain-Palin" year comes to an end.....and welcome up the "Hee Haw" year (I'm using my naming convention.....kinda like those Chinese guys do when they refer to the "dragon" year).
