The Ten Issues That Come If Trump Does Buy Greenland

 1.  The Greenland folks (both the Danes and Inuits) will retain Danish citizenship....but the other 5,000 residents aren't Dane or Inuit....so how exactly will  you handle this issue?

2. The Greenlanders will state an  obvious requirement....NO asylum folks...NO migrants....limited number of residents. The US will have to agree to some limit of 1,000 per year, and show a plan on housing/settling them.

3.  Status as a territory or state?

4.  Some type of ferry service has to be procured/paid-for.....say twice a week....guessing to be run by the Army Corps of Engineers.

5.  The Green news situation (TV/radio/papers/news magazines) are paid mostly out of Danish funds.  So the US has to agree to cover this for a period of time.

6.  The two banks in operation in Greenland....have to be approved under the US Treasury.

7.  Right away....the alcoholism-suicide-social problems....have to be on some top US agenda..

8.  If Greenland goes to the state-route....I expect Guam, Puerto Rico, Alberta and Manitoba to follow within a year.

9.  Power grid for Greenland will be 'bumped-up'.....mini-nuke stations brought in, and for some period of time....electrical costs will be near zero for society.

10. Within a year.....a golf course will be developed and a 'championship' will be run each July....a 24-hour golf game.....because the sun never sets.

My Crypto Box Story

Around the next to last year of Air Force service time (late 90s)....I was called one day to come over to the secure facility at base supply to pick up three crypto-boxes.   I noted to the guy...I had not ordered these.  He responded....some program had procured (bought) the new technology boxes.

$45,000 each.

I bring them back to the vault....placing them in a locked closet. They sat there for about 8 months (still in the box).

Some contractor comes to me....saying she has the job to implement these.  There's some 40-odd page 'plan'.

I bring this up to my boss....he checks into the 'plan'.

Then oddly....this funny episode unfolds.

Somewhere between the development stage and production stage (roughly two years before I signed for them)....this technology had been 'passed' and the three boxes were worthless.

The two months that the contractor had spent writing the 40-odd page  'plan'?  Worthless.

Then came the bigger issue....disposing of them.  Supply wanted various forms of 'release'.  I wasted three hours researching the requirements....completing the paperwork, and driving over to supply to deal with people  who knew little of the program or process.

As I retired.....they wanted to write a medal over the five years in the unit....so there is a line in this stupid medal paperwork....noting my complete support of the 'xyz' crypto-box program....delivering the process on time.
