I catch around 30 minutes per week of MSNBC. I admit it...mostly because I try to get different perceptions. One of the pieces....which I went back and tried to watch a second time....thinking I didn't take it the right way....was with their moderator talking to Arand Giridharadas (AG).
So 'AG' got on this soapbox of his and talked about the sad woe of Americans....that we have an obsession with 'freedom' that blinds us. This 'freedom' blindness keeps us from clearly seeing the virus, climate change and a whole host of problems rushing upon us.
At the end of this ten-minute chat.....I sat there mostly wondering what exactly he meant. It was obvious that he was trying to suggest people just weren't intellectual like him.....to see all of the landscape. His suggestion though....was some problem with 'freedom'. At some point he allured to Trump....just in passing, that listening to Trump might be a problem as well.
The chief problem with people like this.....is that after you shine a 'flashlight' upon their discussion.....they freak out like a badger. They don't want questions, debate, a reflection, or dispute. In their mind, there is one discussion....one conclusion.....one accepted list of facts. Beyond that....you just need to agree.
In this case, he got his soapbox, ten minutes of hyped-up media time, and probably got a following of 5,000 people....mostly all agreeing with him, and wanting him as their new 'Jesus-character'.
As for the 'blindness' issue? Someone is blind, but it might be the guy suggesting blindness.
