1. Tramp usually means a guy who ONLY worked when there was no other choice.
2. Bum usually meant a guy who doesn't work period. This is the handout guy, or the guy who hangs around the 'missions'.
3. Hobo meant a guy who was fully able and willing to move/travel....to find work.
As you can guess....bums usually fell near the bottom, with tramps one step above them.
