My Oregon Story

So I'll tell this story, and try to keep it simple.

Oregon went and had a legislative process.  A bill was drafted, and passed.  No ceremony was held by the governor, as it was signed.  Entry into the state legislative database?  Well....it only occurred two weeks later.

So what the bill says is that there will be NO process to identify a high school graduate as being able to read, write, or perform math (even adding two and two).

Nothing.

This goes into effect in the next school year, and stands there for five years.  So if you are 13 years old in Oregon today.....you can chill out and not worry about anything.

I sat and pondered upon this deal.  The question is....why even bother attending school?  I could get a landscaping job and just mow lawns for the next five years, and not worry about attendance or learning anything.

In fact, I kinda wonder why you need college graduates as teachers.  You could just as easily hire transmission mechanics, waitresses, and retired professional baseball players to teach.
