Twenty Things

 1.  The odds of you sitting at some bar table, and having a one-hour cordial/civil conversation with strangers today?  It's pretty much a 20-percent chance, and lessens by a percent point each three months.

We are at a point where some folks will openly defend the NCAA bowl process, or defend evil as being a necessity in life, or present a good case for living under bridges as being 'normal'.

2.  Nancy Pelosi's husband DUI? Gone....no one will mention it.  Now, if you asked how much he paid to have this type of action?  You just wonder about that.

3. You just notice after a while.....about 50-percent of the nation wants to be left alone....no government harassment....no lectures....no regulation....no hurdles to live a happy life.  The other 50-percent want lectures daily, massive regulation, hurdles upon hurdles to achieve success, and government involvement in every aspect of your life.

4.  There are some idiots talking about a 'civil war' brewing if the Republicans win in some massive way in the mid-terms.

One would need a lot of pretender-actors to show any resemblance to a civil war.

5.  This Idaho event where anti-gay white nationalists were arrested (thirty-odd of them).....do you realize that they brought to the event in a U-Haul truck? Really?

They just opened the rear....out popped the thirty guys, and cops were there to arrest them.  Neat and tidy theatrical show.

6.  On my list of things to worry about/fear.....Monkeypox has probably passed alien abduction now.  But I still rate poisonous snakes at position one.

7.  If you were looking for Presidential-material and demanding integrity.....probably fewer than five individuals in America worth reviewing for the 'job'.

8.  Joe Biden in the debates of 2020: "No more subsidies for the fossil fuel industry. No more drilling including offshore. No ability for the oil industry to continue to drill period. It ends."

He actually said it and achieved it.  Now?  You have to wonder if he even remembers the hype.

9.  At the pace of things, by 2030....I expect all schools/business operations/resturants/bars/airports....to have only one-gender bathrooms.  The days of men's rooms and women's rooms?  It'll dissolve away.  Enjoy while you got them.

10.  There's talk of a national shortage for tampax/tampons.  How this occurred?  We'd need a Congressional hearing to accomplish that....but the folks don't have time for this type of investigation.

Where they will find a supply?  Probably in Switzerland and Pakistan....probably Air Force cargo planes being prepared to brings hundreds of tons of tampons to America.

11.  We seem to have a shortage plain ordinary people....without any weird habits or drugged-up behaviors..

12.  You tend to notice the use of the term 'good Christians' being used now.  It's like the character trait that people tried to reshape....saying there were 'good Nazis' and 'bad Nazis'.....so in this reference, there are 'bad Christians' in some illusionary world.

13.  There's hardly a day that passes when reading news pieces....where you don't notice some journalist using the word 'horde'.

Horde basically means a collection or group of people.  Just to be honest, it's from the 16th century and tended to mean a tribal unit or a group of uncivil people bent on destruction.

14.  Just something I noticed....twenty years ago....philosophers seemed to have logic and capability to win arguments....today?  At best, they present poor arguments.

Twenty years ago, comedians had humor in their material.  Today?  Most lack humor.

Twenty years ago, investigative journalists existed.  Today?  It's a blend of juvenile 1-star reporting and propagandists.

What happened?

15.  I noticed this week, some psychologist saying that a 'good' life doesn't have to be happy or meaningful.

I didn't think the guy got out much and traveled around the nation.

If you weren't doing anything meaningful or had marginal happiness....then you'd need a fair amount of alcohol or drugs to make-up for your 'problem'.

16.  Someone noted this week that YouTube started a policy on some news elements appearing via their system.....must be age-restricted (meaning you shouldn't watch the news if under the age of 16).

I was thinking this is a pretty nifty idea....but I'd do this for CNN, WaPo, and NY Times as well.

17.  When you have a 11-year old kid dishing out disinformation.....you know that things are bad off.

18.  The odds that Joe Biden has not filled his personal vehicle with fuel in the past twenty years?  I'd give it a 90-percent chance.

19.  The term 'emergency' used to be used only on rare occasions.  It's a word that you probably hear at least six times a day now.

20.  The Uvalde town police chief....amazingly enough....says now that he didn't realize he was in charge, upon arriving at the school shooting.

Usually, at least with my Air Force years....when we had chaotic event....there were a dozen-odd people who'd arrive and all claim they were in charge, and we had an abundance of people yelling 'orders'.  This Uvalde situation seems to be the entirely opposite situation....no one was ever in charge.

This makes me ask....of other past events like this....was this also a root issue noticed by people?
