I saw this quote off Twitter yesterday:
If sex is so much a part of your identity, you don't have much of an identity.
I pondered over it for a while.
You see this a good bit now....where people want to inform you of their 'landscape' and behavior. They want you to know that they like weird stuff, and they seem to want some reaction out of you.
But at the end of the day....once you say sex-stuff is THE critical part of your identity...in the rational sense, it doesn't really amount to much of value in terms of the identity.
I'm not saying worthless, but you might as well base your identity on your IQ-level, your choice of car colors, your favorite mower, your best beer brand, or your favorite NCAA football team.
I'll sit and predict that in ten years....at least 100,000 Americans will identify in some way as having a physical relationship with some imaginary non-existent friend. And it'll be considered 'normal'.
"...If sex is so much a part..."
ReplyDeleteA lot of us like sex.
I understand some individuals have no sex... or dislike their participation in sex.
In the perpetual 'potential sex-partners' evaluation, right up front, I tend to disregard those oddballs.
