I worked with an Air Force officer once who got into a discussion once about a 'buddy' in college who'd gone and done four stupid acts, while drunk. Each one ending up with either the college 'police' or the local town police getting involved....then having some meeting with the college's management.
On the third episode...they called up his dad and gave him the lecture that patience was running out.
On the fourth episode, they just brought the guy in...gave him a short summary slip of 'you-are-expelled'....then had the campus cops escort him to the dorm to pick up the belongings to leave.
The problem that developed after this? Well....he went to another public institution and figured that they'd readily accept him. Once he delivered the summary of classes/credit already taken, and there's some comment about being forced to leave....the new college discussed things for a day or two....then said 'no-acceptance'.
It took a month of looking around to find a college that accepted the circumstances.
The odds of someone getting expelled today out of some public or private college? I'd have my doubts that the management folks have the 'guts' today to throw folks out. It's an odd evolution over the past two or three decades that has developed. All of the 'big' colleges have their own police staff these days.....added security because of various bad-boy behavior being accepted.
