Oregon Chatter

This AM....I read through a piece....Oregon adults have the highest rate of mental illness in the US at 31.6-percent.  Roughly...if you met 20 Oregon adults today....at least six have a 'problem'.

What I noticed....they were careful not to suggest levels....like crazy-crazy....or OCD-consumed....or hallucinating over aliens/UFOs....or pretending-to-be-Donald-Trump....or pretending to be 'invisible'.

Most folks in Alabama will swear up and down....that we carry the bulk of the load on mental illness with adults.  This was probably true in the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s.  Oddly enough....by the 1970s....we were losing the 'race' and the population of crazy folks were on a serious decline.  Alabamians attribute this to three things: Crazies moving to California....drugs becoming available to lessen craziness, and fewer folks bragging or hyping up their level of craziness (mostly to avoid being sent off to the state facility).

Do Oregonian folks realize the level of mental illness?  I'm not that sure about it. Most folks have a daily habit of cannabis/weed, and it probably lessens the shock-value.

Should we (the other 49 states) do anything about this issue?  I'm of the mind....as long as it's staying in the state....don't spread out the problem.  If it goes up to around 50-percent of adults?  That might change my mind.
