In 1998, Bruce Yandel wrote an interesting paper on the relationship between bootleggers, Baptists and global warmers. The fascinating thing....is that almost ten years later.....this little publications makes alot of sense.

Read the paper and pause toward the end. There is this silly relationship between these various parties. Bootleggers in the old days....always wanted a dry county....because they could slip through and sell their wares at higher prices. Baptists also wanted the dry county......to show their lifestyles were better. Global warmers.....simply got their agenda done in the end.

In recent days....with the Baptists going full speed with global warming now....this old article really makes sense now.

"Square Deal" Bob

I like ole "Square Deal" Bob Mugabe. When 95 percent of your country is against in a election....inflation stands at 29,000 percent, and grocery stores are completely empty to feed folks....the best thing to do....is give away things.

So "Square Deal" Bob.....gave nice big payraises to all of the government workers and teachers. No one is quiet sure how much.....because he didn't say real numbers....but he says its a dang good raise. "Square Deal" Bob also gave hundreds of tractors in the past month, several hundred tool kits as well. No one is quiet sure what kind of tractors are involved or if they even run.....but that was sure fine of the guy.

Its hard to find a fellow like this.....who just stays on and on.....and destroys the entire fabric of the country. With another four years.....at least half of the country will simply have to pack and leave. His legacy? Mostly built on promises.....heaped onto more promises.....and a few more promises on the side.

Zimbabawe.....twenty years ago....was feeding itself and probably another 30 million Africans outside of the country. They sold fruit and vegetables to a dozen neighboring countries. Everybody made money, and enjoyed a pretty stable life. After the civil war that Bob created.....there were these promises that he made which he had to pay off.....which meant property had to be taken from the long-term white farmers and to break up farming operations. Smaller farms....make less money. Without tractors and smooth-running operations.....they were barely able to feed themselves. So they broke up more property....and eventually got to the point where no one really grows more than to feed themselves and their family. The country starves.....because of a man's incompetence.

Eliot's Babe

Today....Eliot Spitzer's babe....Ms. Dupre.....came out in various pictures and let us know that she simply hadn't slept well over the past week. It all bothered her greatly. She had tried to make it as a singer in the Big Apple....and apparently that plan wasn't really working too well...so escort was no big deal. Based on the ten times she'd done Eliot Spitzer.....the $2600 for her, the room and the Pimp-free.....I'm guessing she walked home with about $1000 per meeting.

For those who've never been to New York City...hotel's are pricey and not for folks from Bama. That one night in July last year that I was "forced" to stay overnight there in Manhattan.....ran $215 (military rate) at the Roosevelt. I later discovered that normally....it wold have $275.....and I simply got lucky and got a special. Eliot never mentioned where he stayed with Ms. Dupree....but it had to be a nice place.

Ms. Dupree didn't want to admit too much but you can figure she was turning at least two tricks a week....taking home $1000 per trip. So monthly....$8000 as a minimum (my guess). She doesn't want to say much....because those IRS folks would really like to know what she was making and I'm guessing they come to visit her eventually.

As for the career of Ms. Dupree.....I'm betting she gets on Letterman within a month.....and gets at least 100 invitations for private service by the end of March. She has a pretty good career that could run six years and easily earn $10 million if she plays her cards right. All thanks to Governor Spitzer....well.....now ex-governor Spitzer. I'm guessing Ms. Spitzer will say adios next month.....and maybe Ms. Dupree and Eliot can hang out more.....course.....he might actually have to pay for her private services....thats the sad part of the story.

Work of Wonder

Out in Las Vegas, NM....Jessie Virgil had a bunch of time on his hands....and crafted this personal mustang of his...into a cop car. The locals all thought there was a law against this....then discovered there wasn't. The state cops admitted....they would NEVER buy a mustang to make into a cop car. So they are going to let him continue. I'm pretty sure....ifing he ever crossed the border into Texas....they probably do have a law against something like this.

I sat and looked over the work of art. He spent alot of time on this project. After a while....I thought this guy is not really a New Mexico-ite.....he's a Bama fella and ought to just pack up and move to Red Bay. We need folks like him around.....doing stuff like this. In Bama....there are a fair number of guys....who just sit and hunt or talk trash over at the Piggly Wiggly or repaint their barn every summer. We need more creativity and folks like Jessie in Bama.

Mississippi State and "Doc" Foglesong

Today, Mississippi state lost their chancellor...."Doc" Foglesong. Actually...."Doc" quit.

"Doc" was the 4-star general at Ramstein up until two years ago....and had reside here for almost three years. The folks down at Mississippi state...over almost two years....came to dislike "Doc" a bit. Its a funny thing....almost all of us said....as he left Ramstein (our 4-star dude)....that he wouldn't last more than a year....so he surprised us by lasting this long.

"Doc" is a idea man.....whatever ideas he comes up with....are written in concrete. They don't get discussed or taken in committee areas for reworking. If "Doc" walked into his office at Ramstein and said the entire fence around the golf course was unsightly to him...then by that afternoon....there was a project on the books to tear down that fence within two weeks. No discussion.

"Doc" is the guy who dreamed up "Combat Proud"....where you had vast manpower pools around base....simply painting rocks....yanking tree limbs out of forests on the base (up to 300 feet into a wooded area).....tearing down numerous storage buildings because they were unsightly to him but not figuring what would replace them after tearing them down.....and having a civil engineering team basically put together by noon any given day to do a "Doc" project and finish before the next day (so normal never got done).

"Doc" started various combat programs....which were literal jokes to the enlisted and officers around the theater. The Army would make jokes and just dump all kinds of sarcasism toward Air Force folks about their "combat" operations, while Army guys went off to Iraq. The effort today by the Army to force heavy Air Force manpower involvement in convoys and general "grunt" duty....all triggered by the Army's immense dislike of this "combat" game of "Doc's".

"Doc" started Combat Touch.....which you have sit and pause to understand this. "Doc" wanted the chaplains to be real close to the enlisted folks....so this special program was designed to bring chaplinas back into contact with the junior guys. The funny thing is that most enlisted guys didn't ever want to see any chaplain around and literally walked out of the shop if the chaplain came to visit. Even the term "touch" started a joke with Army folks....wondering if we doing touching games with each other or with folks of the same sex.

"Doc" never allowed any criticism of his ideas or projects. Not a single officer ever challenged any of his half-baked ideas. When the day came for "Doc" to finally leave....it took barely 30 days for EVERY single program he'd created....to disappear. By the 60th day....you couldn't tell that this guy had ever been in the theater. There were no buildings named after this guy....no ballfields....no streets....nothing. Alot of us felt that this was a demonstrator of the amount of incompetence that existed at the 2-star and 3-star level throughout the Air Force. It might have been unfair to say that....but this entire period became one of the most dismal and unproductive periods in Air Force history in Europe.

So "Doc" went to Mississippi State, and began to commit the same errors as he had done at Ramstein. He allowed no real dissent or discussion. What he dreamed up....was to be absolute. But there is a problem here. Mississippi is Mississippi. Folks around this section of America.....really don't cotton to some guy who walks in and just lays out directives which are kinda questionable, and doesn't allow debate. Folks don't readily jump into some half-baked project that has no potential for agreement. Mississippi is the last place where a guy like Hitler or a guy like "Doc" would readily be accepted. Unless you really present top notch ideas and are true leader.....you aren't really doing much.

So "Doc" didn't last out the entire two years. "Doc" says that he is going back to West Virginia. Some folks are thinking that since Sen Byrd is sick and bad off right now....maybe "Doc" is preparing for some kind of appointment there and take up the seat of the senator. My thinking is....this guy is pretty much a waste for leadership....so a senator spot wouldn't be that bad for him. It actually does pay a good pay scale and certainly would hurt (or help) his reputation currently.

As for folks back in Mississippi.....I'm guessing they are kinda happy "Doc" is leaving....and might be like the Ramstein crowd after "Doc" left there....kinda heaving a sigh of relief....sipping a beer to celebrate....and wondering how they had all that patience to last that long.
