Well....yes.
N-TV had a 3-minute piece today and talked of the past forty years in Germany.
According to their data....late 1970s....a German household ate 6.7 kilograms of meat per month. Today? 2.3 kilograms of meat per month....a third less.
Pork consumption....two-thirds of a cut over a forty-year period.
Eating more vegan-type menus? To some degree. But I would suggest (having been here in 1978) that a fair number of German guys were eating a hefty amount of meat per day in that period. But a lot of the jobs being done were physical labor type, and you burned the calories off. I don't see that issue existing today.
A continuing downward trend? I would suggest the bulk of the downward trend has ended, and will level out.
If you did measure up healthy eating in 1978, and tried to measure it today.....you'd find that three-quarters of German people probably eat better today than in 1978.
