The 6 January 2021 'Insurrection' Business

If you gaze around....almost no one has a timeline of the events for that afternoon.

If you try to build your own timeline?  It comes out to about 2.5 hours (roughly).....about as long as a double-overtime soccer game, with the shoot-off at the end.

If you bring up this with Africans or South Americans.....they kinda start laughing because their typical insurrection usually turns into rebellions (meaning days and weeks....not minutes and hours).

An African will use the word 'rebel', 'uprising', and 'revolt'.

If you start to engage on the topic....they will go down the list.  Typically, some village gets shot up.....some police get killed, and food shortage/electrical outages become the norm for a couple of weeks.

'Clashes'?  These usually end up with some rebel group who does a quick attack....maybe forty dead, and the government promises some quick reaction.....which turns into three days waiting for the government force to arrive.  You tend to notice that these are mostly 16 to 20 year old guys....who got their uniform yesterday, and was issued some gun with one clip (five rounds) and a pair of tennis shoes (usually stolen).

'Revolutions'?  These come and go....usually where some junta-government is forced into a fight, and some communist/non-communist group arrive to declare itself supporting the general public.  Most Africans will claim neither group is openly something you'd want to run your daily life.

TV-chatter importing during a typical insurrection?  Usually, most networks get turned off, and you end up with one single government-run network.  Luckily for us from the 6 Jan.....everything ran correctly....even the METRO subway system in DC, and the regional airport.  In fact, other than the Congressional 'chow' facility and the gift shop were probably the only things that shutdown around the capital building.

My view now?  Well...just about anything that the BLM riot business triggered in 2019?  I look back and see them as insurrections.

It just seems to me that we are opening up a new period.....for 'real' insurrections, and it won't be pleasant.

If I Were Going To Change Anything About Voting In America

 1.  National ID card mandated.

Caught with a fake card?  Automatic $8,000 fine on the first time with no prosecutor/judge interference, tripling it to $30k on the second occasion.  No voting opportunity if you show up without the card.

2.  Caught double/triple voting?

I'd assign you a Saturday task for a year....fill 300 sandbags at some country central point.  Restrict you from voting for a four-year period as well.

3.  After each election, we dump the voting roll entirely....forcing you to show up at the county office and identify yourself.

4.  If you can't prove where you live.....we don't register you to vote.  Yeah, I'm talking about RV people and the homeless crowd.

5.  Absentee voting?  Only military people, or those who come by the county court house to 'vote-early', or those who are in some hospital (doctor signing your note).

6.  Three early-voting days allowed (guarded by a minimum of four police), and would cover a weekend situation.

7.  No one in America eligible to hold office past age 70.   That would include Supreme Court Judges as well.

Observations

 1.  I was looking at a Rasmussen poll....noting what people think are important for the mid-terms in November (done in past week): (1) Inflation, (2) election integrity, (3) violent crime, (4) gas prices, (5) rising immigration, (6) school issues.

On the last, school issues....the poll said 58-percent this was extremely important.

I should also note....this was a poll with 'likely' voters.

So here is the odd discussion....on these issues, if you asked people to note what the Democratic House/Senate or President Biden has done to counter the issues.....there's a fair amount of silence.  Then if you asked....did they contribute to this, or via pro-Democratic folks in the field help to achieve school issues or violent crime?  Well....that opens up a whole big discussion.

I'd also voice this....whoever is running for President in 2024 for the Democratic Party....they have to talk about rebuilding the character and image of the Democratic Party, and that's a hard problem to consider.

2.  With all this chatter about 'more' gun laws.....might we want to stand up....evaluate the current laws and then lecture ourselves that we are fully implementing or using the current laws at hand?  The odds that people are doing a dismal jobs with the laws at hand?  Probably so discussion here.

3.  By July, someone will detail Russian units in the Ukraine, and lay out that 90-percent of them are at 50-percent manpower.  So in effect, you will see a hundred-man-unit led by a general.

4.  Washington Post journalist dumping criticism on news media for negative coverage of the Biden administration.

I sat and read over his chatter.  The problem here....all the normal 'units' went far beyond reality and fiction to carry the 'pro-message' for President Biden.  If you were looking for a non-dramatic or non-theatrical four-year period (what some of the Biden-voters really desired).....the Biden-team failed miserably so far.

Covid 'brand'?  That was a poor design for public support.

It's like they need some Hollywood character to stroll in and take over PR for six months.....to rebuild the look/image of the White House and the agenda.

5.  For a long while....folks were set to the idea that the Carter administration (top to bottom)....was the crappiest group ever assembled in DC.

Well....it's starting to appear that team-Biden may beat that Carter group.

6. Twitter and Elon?  Zero interest by the CEO in admitting how many bots have accounts....so it's probably more than 5-percent (he was willing to admit that much).

SEC screwed?  Once the deal is clobbered and not happening.....a bunch of folks who hold share with Twitter will be all over the SEC....'what's happening here'.  Stock drop?  I'd suggest a 50-percent drop over next six weeks.
