SPD and Clement

So today, Wolfgang Clement....the German SPD member who got tossed earlier in the week from his party...mostly saying only an idiot would support the SPD candidate in Hessen....finally owned up and said he was kinda sorry for saying that awful stuff. Kurt Beck....brilliant dimwit of the SPD....immediately piped up and said that maybe things could be worked out and bring good ole Clement back into the gang.

In recent days.....this latest episode shined more darkness upon the SPD, and hinted of an organization that is falling behind. Current numbers today.....suggested only twenty percent support if the election was held today.

What happens now? Well....some SPD guys will likely meet this weekend....sip some beer and grill some pork...discussing how to get a "kiss-up" situation brewing and welcome Clement royally back into the gang. I'm guessing Kurt Beck is kicking himself in the head....wondering where all the bad press came from, and if there is any hope left for the party before he takes them into the next mess.

And Clement? Well....it is a curious thing how he crafted his apology, and basically said he shouldn't have advised folks not to support the Hessen candidate. He still didn't truly come out and say VOTE SPD in HESSEN....which you'd kinda think would fix the whole problem. He's not the idiot here....but his fellow party members are.

Al and the Boat

Al Gore's new houseboat, which burns a minimum of two gallons an hour (probably on the generator alone). It has a 500-gallon tank.

Al doesn't talk much about this. I assume we will hear more about it. I don't see any solar panels. So this is pretty much the end of Al's campaign to be serious on global warming. I think he's going to just settle back and enjoy the joke now....which I'd probably do too.
