In 44 US states....if the police direct you (order you).....you have to comply or you will be detained.
Six states don't mandate the 'follow-the-orders': Connecticut, Kentucky, Maine, Massachusetts, Virginia, and West Virginia.
So, when in a chaotic situation, and the LE gives you a order....once you say 'NO'....they have the right to arrest you (charges come next). If these were unlawful....the judge will determine later.
Here's your problem....if you say 'NO'....you will be detained in 44 states....pay some bail (in most cases).....then have to hire a lawyer (figure $500 minimum).
Do people grasp this? I suspect....out of a hundred adult....fewer than ten know and understand this.
Do the police have to give you ten warnings? No....usually one single warning is the given 'rule'.
